• There has been some confusion about what intelligent design is as compared to Evolution. I hope this post clears up that confusion.

  • These are some of the undisputed facts or signs of climate change:
Fact 1 – Heat waves increasing common and extreme heat is perhaps the most common sign of climate change, and also signs of global warming. It is true that there have been periods of warming and cooling over the last 5 billion years, but the change has never been so extreme. Global warming has raised the temperatures in many parts of the Northern Hemisphere, resulting in the melt down of ice glaciers.
Fact 2 – Melting of mountain glaciers Over the last 150 years, scientists have been monitoring mountain glaciers and have reported that they are indeed shrinking. This is particularly true of glaciers at the lower latitudes where many of them have simply disappeared. If climate change continues all existing glaciers will have disappeared within 100 years.
Fact 3 – Ocean warming Over the last 100 years, sea level has increased to 25 cm. It is projected that over the next hundred years sea levels will rise even higher – to about 100 cm. This rise in sea levels is attributed to the melting of ice glaciers due to warmer temperatures. What does this mean? Beaches are set to lose about 50 square feet for every foot the sea level increases. Many Pacific islands will simply disappear!
Fact 4 – Wild Storms Storms are occurring more frequency and with higher intensity. Counter intuitively, water in the soil will evaporate faster, resulting in dryness between rain periods. Dry regions will become drier. In addition, hurricanes will be more severe and winds are expected to blow stronger. Wind patterns may shift.

There was a time not long ago that I used to listen to Limbaugh fervently. Being a conservative I shared many things in common with the man. I wondered at the time why there were so many dissenters calling to argue with him.

There was that time though, when he said that despite protests to the contrary, that the environment was not endangered, that the world had unlimited potential for supporting life, and that global warming was a hoax. This seemed to buck against reason.

    http://www.global-warming-statistics.org/climate-change-facts.html

(I also caught him in several instances where he would say something, then later deny ever having said it, or qualified it so it meant something else.) Nevertheless, anyone who lives in Northern latitudes are aware that warm weather is coming earlier each year. They are aware that the swings in weather are more pronounced than ever. Severe weather is more severe than in past times. More snow, which surprisingly can be tied to Global Warming, is evident.

Then, later on he said, that there should not be any unemployment insurance, as this promotes people lying around not looking for work. I have had need of it twice in my life: Saved my house, provided for my family.

I found he was totally out of touch with the common working man. Almost every thing he said promoted the welfare of the fat-cats in business. Of course he would qualify this by saying that the fat-cats in business produced jobs. He believed in the trickle down effect. If the top people were well off then it would trickle down to us little folk. I often wondered why nothing ever trickled down to Mansfield.

Rush has said many things that certainly do not endear him to women. He has also jumped on the racist bandwagon with many of his comments concerning blacks and their issues.

The way some of his callers fawn over him, complimenting him, you begin to think he is the head of some cult or perhaps he might be the second coming of Christ.

Whenever a dissenting caller does get through the screening process he usually ridicules them, demeans their intelligence, or hangs up on them when they have him on the ropes. Many times just before he hangs up, the caller has him on the ropes, he will say,"Well, I can see we can not have a meaningful discussion."

Rush Limbaugh is bad for America because he is so well accomplished at what he does. He has a wide following who are mesmerized by his voice. I feel he is leading people along the wrong path, perpetuating hate and perpetuating division in America. He is also persuading people to inactivity, as in the climate changes which are evident for everyone to see. He pooh poohs scientists’ reports of polar cap melting, and shrinking habitats for wildlife. He in fact denies that there is any Global Climate changes of any kind that are out of the ordinary.

  • Christianity has been unable to force the teaching of creationism in schools. Having failed they changed it’s name and dressed it in pseudo-scientific speak calling it Intelligent Design. They also failed to force this into the public schools as well.

Many moderate Christians today have been accused of picking and choosing parts of the Bible they want to believe, ignoring things therein that would get them into trouble in this day and age. Examples: Stoning gay people, murdering their own children because the little ones didn’t show adequate respect for God, and slaughtering un-believers as required in the Bible.

When fundamentalists are accused of picking and choosing in these modern times, they also have simply labeled it something else. Instead of "pick and Choose" they now call it "progression of redemptive history". Same thing, different label. I say, if it was potatoes yesterday, and you changed the label to peas today, it’s still potatoes.

By using the cloak of "progression of redemptive history" the scriptures can be reinterpreted in any fashion needed. In this way, things in the Bible that have become socially unacceptable can be interpreted away, or said to no longer be valid due to Jesus’s redemptive powers, despite the fact that Jesus adamantly said he did not come to change even one jot or tittle of any of the old laws. In the end, because Jesus said he did not come to change the law, those that are involved in this reinterpretation are involved in heresy, pure and simple when the interpretations are compared to the original intended meanings.

This is a story about two completely disparate individuals. Neither are real, but after all this is a story. Not to say, that the conclusions about these fictional individuals are in any way fictional.

Mrs. Sutty, 70ish, has always worked hard at anything she has ever attempted. If she has ever failed, it surely wasn’t  for want of trying. She has always volunteered at the local hospital, helping in any way she can. Of late she has spent more time at the hospital, you see, her husband of forty years passed away just before last Thanksgiving.Working at the hospital keeps her mind off of her loss

Arnold grew up in a harsh environment. His father left the family while he was a mere toddler, his mother, struggling as a cashier at the local supermarket and nights as a barmaid did the best she could, but has never had much time to spend with Arnold. By the time Arnold is sixteen he has served in the juvenile detention facility twice. Once for robbing a drive thru, the second time for beating an old man senseless for three dollars and change. Finally when at age 43, he was on death row for killing a family while they slept. He didn’t rob them, he killed them because the father had cut him off in traffic that day.

While waiting on death row, Arnold, at the urging of a priest accepts the Lord as savior. It is apparent from his tears that his devotion is serious.

Mrs. Sutty never got interested in religion, never believed it. With the exception of the death of her mate, she has always been a decent out-going member of the community.

Yes I know you’ve heard this before, but it bares repeating: Guess which one the church says will burn in ever-lasting fire, and which will sit beside God in heaven.

John 3:18 – He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

    Isn’t religion great?

The celebration of Easter did not begin with Christianity but began many hundreds of years before the birth of Christ. As with many holidays, Easter was incorporated into the Christian faith and is of Pagan origin.

Bunnies, and Easter egg decorating did not originate in the Christian version of Easter.

Originally, the crucifixion was the crossifixion of the Sun, and it’s resurrection as the season of fertility returned to the Earth.

    The freedom of speech

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

is the treasured first amendment to the Constitution. It states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment  of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

In Britain though they can bar those who try to incite hatred through speech. Fred Phelps pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), an independent Baptist church based in Topeka, Kansas has been denied entry to Britain.

Phelps is a bigot. He hates because of his religious convictions. He is the reason America had better hope his ilk does not gain political power here in the U.S.

  • "Buy USA" has  been stated as a means to preserve jobs in the United States for many years. Foreign workers, who accept pennies on the dollar for their labors, have inundated the U.S. markets with cheap products for many years, driving domestic manufacturers to seek to move their manufacturing facilities to these same foreign countries.

Now, in this time of economic downturn people are trying to stretch their scarce dollars by spending them on the cheap goods that got us into this mess in the first place.

One of the main problems in buying made in USA products is finding them. I believe we deserve to know exactly what is made here so that we can where possible show preference for these products. Stores should make a special effort to promote the sell of domestically made products. Domestically made products usually run a little higher in price, but in the long run will preserve the manufacturing base here in the U.S.. This serves everyone’s interests.

Having trouble? Here are 3 sites that can help you find USA made products. There are many more on the Internet .

  • All religions use a form of mental conditioning very much like hypnosis to mind wash their followers. If the leaders of these cults are successful their victims will experience euphoria along with a host of possible hallucinations. This disruption of thought processes is camouflaged by using the label "spiritual connection".

Individuals under the control of these "spiritual connections" are unaware that their whole thought process has been compromised. No matter the evidence, no matter the logic of any argument, anything that opposes the programmed message instilled by their religious leader is rejected. On those things that do not oppose their indoctrinated programming they can and do use reason. This is why even though on the matters of their religion they appear crazed, they seem otherwise reasonable people.

I read an article in the present issue of Scientific American which states in the title that Einstein’s Theory of Relativity is in danger of being upset by Quantum Mechanics.

I don’t pretend to know much about either The Theory of Relativity or Quantum Mechanics, though I found the article interesting. In the world of Quantum Mechanics you are able to affect the behavior of a non-local particle by manipulating a local particle. If I understand this correctly the non-local particle can be made to mimic the local one without any type of connection between the two, no radio waves no light waves, nothing.

I began to wonder if it might not be possible to communicate via this method with other worlds in the Cosmos. Suppose you could set up some method of manipulating local particles into some form of waving hand, to attract attention. Somewhere in a distant part of the Universe perhaps a waving hand composed of manipulated particles would appear. Of course then you would also have to have a method of determining exactly where that hand might appear. Even so how would you decide where that would be. You couldn’t really use optical observations as the optical observations of distant stars is from lightwaves that could have been traveling for decades, perhaps millennia. You might end up waving your particle generated hand at a dead planet orbiting a burnt out cinder. This particle manipulation is supposed to be simultaneous locally and non-locally.

Well, I suppose if you could generate a particle hand you might generate a particle lens as well as particle apparatus to send the images  to the local particle apparatus to observe the distant location .

    Head about to explode.

I will have to purchase that book "Quantum Physics for Dummies" just to see if this is possible.
