Religion has caused much division among the human population. There are numerous religions. Each religion believes itself the one true belief.
Almost all require not just the adherents to obey their edicts but everyone else.

Religion hates knowledge. People who have knowledge are its enemies. It prefers its adherents be childlike, therefore, gullible. Whether a flaw, or by design, this quality of religion opens the adherents to persuasion, by dictators, by nut cases. Trump has successfully used Christianity in his drive to become king. There are people who have been totally co-opted. They no longer think for themselves. The king can do anything and they applaud.

Religion causes hate, hate for any non-follower, hate for another race, hate for the sake of hate. The believer thinks they are favored by god. All others are to be used.
