“Oh, they are so barbaric, they believe in that old saying… Either you’re for me or against me. But we’re nothing like that, we don’t force you to believe anything to be part of the whole.”
“So, even though I don’t agree with everything the group, but share many of their views, I can still belong to the whole?”
“That’s right, if we represent 90 % or even 80 % of your perspective, you are still welcome here.”
“That’s fantastic, as I know many in your group hold the stance that (Item of concern), but I don’t, then everything is okay.”
“You don’t hold to (Item of Concern), why? It’s a logical stance. You can’t be thinking straight if you don’t.”
“Yea, but that’s only one thing… I still support over 90% of what you do.”
“Yes, but if you don’t accept that you’re a bigot.”
“But you said…”
“I know what I said, having found you out… I must ask you to leave.”
“But…”
“No, get out. Don’t show your face here again!”

Every group has a requirement for membership. Many deny that fact, but if you start talking and express a viewpoint that is not agreed upon by the leaders of the group, you face expulsion. I have encountered such “non-requirements” in every single group I have encountered.

If you want or need to belong to a group, it is best to keep quiet until you learn the “non-requirements”. Then parrot the line, betray yourself, betray your own beliefs, to belong.

This is the way of humanity. This is why humanity can never get along. This is why, ultimately, humans will destroy each other and this planet. They can never unite. They can never agree on a goal. Once a goal is chosen, they can never work together to achieve that goal. There will always be factions, one working against the other. Diversity is celebrated by many humans. Yet that same quality is the instrument by which they will die.
